Position #6
Teacher / Publisher
My name is Heiðbjört Ósk Ófeigsdóttir, and I am the mother of two boys, aged 12 and 19. I work as a homeroom teacher at Lundarskóli, and I find it incredibly rewarding to watch my students grow and develop, both academically and socially. That experience has taught me how different our needs can be and how important it is for society to stand firmly behind children and their families.
Last year, I founded the publishing company Söguspor and published my first book, Mamma – sagan þín (“Mum – Your Story”). My second book, Pabbi – sagan þín (“Dad – Your Story”), is now going to print. These books are guided journals for parents who want to write their own story, preserve memories, and share their wisdom with the next generation.
I enjoy bringing people together, listening to different perspectives, and working purposefully toward shared solutions on important issues. My main passion lies in welfare and education. It is crucial that we do not become complacent when it comes to prevention and public health for people of all ages. Mental and social wellbeing support individual quality of life and form the foundation of a strong and healthy society.
Akureyri is a wonderful town with great potential. But just as with prevention, we must not relax even when things are going well. We need to continue strengthening the local economy, safeguard our hospital, ensure diverse housing options and a good supply of building plots, support innovation, and lay the foundation for a strong community for all residents.
